Ten Days

When counting, ten is the number that comes after nine. Also, it precedes the number eleven. Many things come in groups of tens. Here’s a list:

  1. Fingers
  2. Commandments
  3. Bowling pins
  4. Lords-a-leaping
  5. Friends seasons
  6. Punches in a Metro North pass
  7. Numbers in a phone number
  8. The number of days in which it takes to lose a guy
  9. The number of things in which you are allowed to hate about a person
  10. The number of days I have worked in a row these past two weeks.

Oh, you caught that last one? Yes, I do believe I’ve earned bragging rights for surviving. I already told my co-workers I’m expecting banners, a cake and a pony when I get into work today, so I’m really looking forward to all of those expectations being met. Regardless, the next few days snuggled up in my bed with hot cider and my DVR are going to be glorious beyond measure.

P.S. Ten Days is also a hauntingly beautiful song by Missy Higgins. Here it is for your listening (maybe not so much viewing) pleasure:

Happy Wednesday! You’ve survived thus far too :)

Lists, Loves & Links: LATE Edition Because I’m the Worst

lists loves and links smallerI’ve been super busy with work things and life things, so I apologize for today’s very late in the day post. But alas, here are some links that have been keeping me from drowning into a deep, dark hole of a person this week:

  • I’m sure you’ve heard, but in this week’s Tina & Amy news: TWO MORE YEARS! TWO MORE YEARS. Gah. Tina & Amy: all day, everyday. Forever and ever, Amen.
  • Beer popularity in America. I find it hard to believe that New York isn’t one of the top drinking states.
  • For my fellow Parks & Rec fans, here’s the best Ron Swansonisms of the show.
  • Anthony Hopkins on Jesus Bryan Cranston & Breaking Bad’s stellar cast. My friend and I still regularly text as Jesse and Walt. It’s kind of pathetic amazing.

A few other fun facts in a listy format:

  • My building’s boiler has been out of commission for THREE DAYS. No hot water = no showering. So there’s that.
  • I think I may be in a serious relationship with carbs. It started as a joke, but I actually cant stop eating/drinking/thinking about them.
  • I have a business cell phone now — which, I know — #important. I’ve had the thing three days and have already managed to text a selfie to a number I thought was my personal line. Obviously, I don’t know my own phone number. Again for emphasis — #important

Basically, I’m the worst.

Lists, Loves & Links

lists loves and links smallerYour weekly list of links of lists:

  1. If you’ve ever worked retail, you know.
  2. An Instagram making fun of Instagram. AKA instagenius.
  3. A cool list of traits that closet introverts will relate to.
  4. Why you should worship watch Orange is the New Black. AKA I binge-watched the entire series in three days and so should you.
  5. Another piece on millennials making fun of pieces on millennials. I have a love/date relationship with the internet. But who doesn’t?

Smile, it’s Wednesday. :)

Cat Themed (!) Lists, Loves & Links

lists loves and links smaller

If you know me in real life, you know there are few things I love more than cats. I 100% classify myself as a “cat person” and am okay with whatever inevitable form of backlash that’s will ensue from any readers who didn’t know. In lieu of yesterday’s more serious post, here’s some fun, nonsensical cat stuff which further speaks to my point that they’re awesome:

  1. Most people don’t realize the very reason a lot of people dislike cats, is the same reason why us cat people like them.
  2. Cat friend vs. dog friend. An oldie, but a goodie.
  3. Are internet famous cats ACTUALLY better than real cats? In GIFs, maybe.
  4. I guess cats that live at the library are a thing.
  5. Who wants an awesome cat shirt?
  6. What about cat stud earrings? Anyone? Just me, then?
  7. Yes; someone, somewhere IS searching for the Next “It” Cat. Of course.
  8. And for good measure, here’s my cat being the female version of a hustla:

Lists, Loves & Links

lists loves and links smallerWelcome to my very first “Lists, loves and links”! For my foremost post in this series, I’m going to create a list of links I’ve been loving this week. (You see what I did there?)

  • If you’re anything like me and live in a pop-culture retardant hole (Nope? No one? K.), but the at the very last-minute you care more than anything about a TV show that’s been for five seasons and has two episodes left to air, I guess you should read this. [Aka the writer’s break down Sunday’s CRAZY episode of Breaking Bad. SPOILERS INCLUDED, obviously]
  • New Yorkers are nothing if they’re not short-tempered. Each and everything on this list, I curse at almost daily. AND I’ve only been living here two years and currently spend most of my time in Westchester. So yes, I’d say this is accurate.
  • In honor of my girl Amy’s birthday this past Monday, here are 21 ways I (and maybe you!) are exactly like Leslie Knope! (P.S. ONE WEEK, Parks fans!)
  • With autumn making its official debut this Sunday, nothing better to welcome the season than with some cute, new booties! I’m not crazy about them all, but the McQueen two-toned ankles on slide seven? I diiiie.
  • In a bit more serious fashion, here’s an interesting article on the strikingly high likelihood of NYC runaways turning to prostitution to help get them off the streets. The organization I volunteer at is mentioned, and it just goes to further document the need these girls have for life skills workshops and mentoring that we do there.
  • Lastly, I made a polyvore. Follow or friend or like me. If you want. Or whatever.
