Happy Christmas Eve!

Rock TreeHappy nondenominational holiday eve to all! Just kidding, Christians only. Today, I embark on my week “vacation” to Ohio. I’ll likely be taking the rest of the week off blogging to celebrate the holiday and catch up with friends and family; I will allegedly resume normal posting duties on Monday the 30th. Try not to miss me too much. And you guys, amidst all the crazy, please don’t forget the real meaning of ChristMAS: the “más” which means “more” in Spanish. More presents, more food, more wine. :) But really, I hope Santa’s good to all of you Beliebers out there! Xo.

Weekend Visitors

The middle/end of last week was such a whirlwind for me. From not feeling well to the jury duty fake out, to insanity at work, to trying to get everything wrapped up for my trip home…AND I had visitors! I spent what time I was out of the office with my best friend from high school, her husband and her dad. I love having people to show off the city to — mostly because it gives me a chance to do all of the touristy things I usually can’t manage to make myself get into regularly. Not only did I get to see some pretty incredible shows that offered my last chance at getting into the holiday spirit (The Rockettes, A Christmas Story, and not-seasonal themed Newsies), but it was also another chance to break out this new beast of a camera and shoot some places I wouldn’t normally visit! It was such a fun weekend with great people, and it got me even more excited for my holiday in Ohio.

A Blue Christmas Playlist

If you follow me on any sort of social media, or like, ya know, read this blog, you know I’ve been struggling with getting into the holiday spirit. That’s a hot and cold relationship I’d prefer not to have. So to prove to you, my loyal and concerned readership (and not myself at all), that I AM TRYING, here’s the playlist I’ve disciplined myself to play from here on out – through the remainder of the holiday season. Halls WILL be decked and bells WILL be jingled, dammit!

  1. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, *NSync
  2. The Christmas Song, Nat King Cole
  3. Because It’s Christmas album in entirety, Barry Manilow (shut up)
  4. Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth, Bing Crosby & David Bowie
  5. Merry Christmas Darling, The Carpenters
  6. Last Christmas, Wham! (shut up again)
  7. Happy XMas (War is Over), John Lennon
  8. Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, Bruce Springsteen
  9. My Only Wish, Britney Spears
  10. All I Want for Christmas is You, Mariah Carey

Well, that was embarrassing. Two weeks left for this Grinch/Scrooge Combo to get on Buddy the Elf’s level. Can it be done??

Christmastime is [almost, but not really] Here

It’s already snowed in Ohio and flurries are in the forecast for NYC last night/today. Although it isn’t officially winter yet, it’s Christmas season in my mind. Yes, I’m one of those girls who starts listening to Christmas music in October. No, I won’t apologize. I’m even more psyched that I’m going to be able to make an Ohio trip happen for the holidays this year — something that I didn’t foresee to be in the cards. Due to all of this seasonal excitement, I crafted a Polyvore featuring a few of my seasonal favorites I’m already delving into! I’d say I lose my self-control around the holidays, but if I’m being honest, I never had much of that to begin with. Forty-three days until Christmas (!!!), but I mean who’s counting?Elf Christmas Cheer
