Changes for the Better

Many exciting changes have been happening in my little New York life since my last post to you! Let me take you through some of them:

First of all, Lenten season is upon us, and being the good Catholic girl I am, I have made many mini-goals for myself for these 40 days and 40 nights. A few of them are to quit frivolously spending money, go to church every week and only drink on special occasions. So far I’m doing surprisingly well, with a few mishaps here and there ;) But hey, if it isn’t hard, then you’re not learning anything, right?

Secondly, as many of you know I have moved! My friend got an amazing job on a Disney cruise and needed a sublet for 10 months, so I now hang my flag up on display in The Heights! For those of you not too familiar with New York, it’s more north (i.e. farther from…well, basically anything) than where I was living before, but a very similar neighborhood. Since clearly this apartment enjoys the spotlight, I figured I would add a few of my own crappy cell phone pics of some of the changes I’ve made to the room since moving in. [Disclaimer: I have to give credit where credit is due. A lot (most) of the cuteness is solely attributed to the room’s rightful owner, Jess. The mix-matched sheets, really trendy post-it wall and cat pictures are TOTALLY MINE though.]

And having this furry extra roommate makes it even homier!

Another thing that’s changed is that I’m writing this post via my very first Mac computer! Don’t get me wrong, the Tangent somehow, by the grace of God held it together enough for me during these past 4.5 years, but as it was starting to feel like I was lugging around a desktop computer, I knew the time for change was upon us. With the help of my very gracious parents, I am now much happier with a computer that is way too hip for me. I’m definitely the reacher (you know, versus the settler) in this relationship, and I am 100% okay with it.

As it is said, change is the only constant. I think it’s important to continually challenge yourself and in a sense change every day of your life. I know that these new changes will only bring about many more throughout the spring and summer, and I’m looking forward to any and all new opportunities that may transpire. Have a great rest of your week, everyone.
